Canada Showcase with CBI & Literature Ireland

CBI Writers in Canada

Children’s Books Ireland (CBI) and Literature Ireland, working with the Irish Embassy in Ottawa and Words Ireland, will send a showcase of four Irish children’s writers and illustrators to three Canadian literature festivals.

Marie-Louise Fitzpatrick, Oisín McGann, Dave Rudden and Deirdre Sullivan will appear at three festivals:

Frye Festival, Moncton , New Brunswick: http://www.frye.ca/

Blue Metropolis, Montréal, Québec: http://bluemetropolis.org/

Ottawa International Writers Festival, Ottawa, Ontario: http://www.writersfestival.org

They will also speak at the Irish Studies Department of Concordia University in Montréal.

In 2016 CBI partnered with the Canada Council for the Arts and the Ottawa International Writers Festival to bring a group of Canadian writers to Dublin for Culture Night and CBI’s Annual Conference. This visit will build on that relationship, as well as marking both CBI’s and the Writers Festival’s 20th birthdays by celebrating Irish artists whose work for young  people is of world-class standard.

Throughout 2017 Children’s Books Ireland is celebrating twenty years of making books a part of every child’s life. Since 1997 this national non-profit children’s books organisation has worked with partners across the island of Ireland and beyond, celebrating children’s books and the joy of reading for pleasure through projects such as the CBI Book of the Year Awards, Inis magazine, the Inis Reading Guide and our annual reading campaign. In 2017 their aim is to reach even more parents, teachers and other children’s book-lovers to ensure that children of all ages have access to excellent books.
