Words Ireland is a grouping seven literature organisations who have worked together collaboratively since 2015 to provide coordinated professional development and resource services to the literature sector.

We established to increase opportunities for writers at all stages in their careers.

Words Ireland’s remit includes the provision of professional development opportunities, with a particular focus on mid-career and advanced career practitioners.

We provides mentoring opportunities, creating meaningful employment for professional writers and opportunities for emerging writers to advance their creative practice.

We work with arts centres and venues to develop literature programming and build audiences for literature that will translate into increased working opportunities for writers.

We produce professional development events and compile information that will help writers to advance their professional and creative practice, leading writers to develop more sustainable writing lives.

We run WordCon, a national writers’ conference, which will be held next in May 2020 in partnership with ILFDublin, Museum of Literature Ireland and Associated Writing Programmes Ireland.

Initiatives are project managed by Brendan Mac Evilly.

The Literature Audience Development Officer for Words Ireland is Dani Gill.
